Program Overview

GRADUATE PROGRAM IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The Graduate Program, which includes master’s and doctoral degrees, was established in 2007 through a partnership between the Department of Physical Education at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (DES-UFV) and the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports at the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (FAEFID-UFJF). In the 2017-2020 quadrennial evaluation by CAPES, the program achieved a grade 5 (five).

The program aims to fulfill the need for highly qualified human resources resulting from various undergraduate and specialization courses in Physical Education and related fields. This program aims to train higher education teachers with competence in research in Physical Education and related areas. Its objective is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct scientific research, produce, and disseminate knowledge in topics related to Physical Education.

Objectives:

– Develop research and train researchers in various areas of knowledge within Physical Education.

-Contribute to the production of academic-scientific knowledge to develop and consolidate Physical Education as a field of study.

-Disseminate knowledge through technical-scientific events, promoting exchange between researchers and professionals.

-Train teacher-researchers for higher education.

Mission:

– Cultivate strong ethical principles of scientific conduct and promote social responsibility.

– Provide hands-on experience and exposure to both basic and applied research in Physical Education.

– Stimulate creativity, critical thinking, and intellectual independence in students.

– Form leaders to operate in academic, business, and governmental spheres.

Coordination:

The Program is associated and has coordinators and secretaries at both Federal Universities.
